Terms
The terms, in plain language
Effective September 26, 2026
By using Social Squares, including The Elkhorn Square, you agree to these terms and to our house rules. They’re short on purpose.
Who can use the Square
You must be 18 or older. Posting is for people who live in or near the town, under their real name. Businesses must be real businesses in or near the town.
What you send us
- It’s yours. You keep ownership of what you post or send.
- You let us show it. You give Social Squares permission to display, format and share what you submit on the Square and in its emails. That includes putting your event on the calendar or trimming a post for length and clarity. This permission ends when you ask us to take it down, except for emails already sent.
- It has to be yours to share. Only send what you have the right to share, and don’t post photos of other people, especially children, without permission.
- It should be true. Don’t post anything false or misleading, including fake events, fake deals or fake reviews.
Review and removal
Every post is read before it goes up. We may decline, edit for length, or remove anything that breaks the house rules or doesn’t fit the Square, and we may suspend people who break the rules repeatedly. When we can, we’ll tell you why.
Businesses
Storefronts are free. We may verify a business before its storefront goes live. The Founding Business mark goes to the first 50 verified businesses in each town. Specials and deals you post must be real and honored.
No guarantees
The Square is provided as it is. Information from neighbors, businesses and even official sources can be incomplete, late or wrong, so check with the source before you rely on it. The Square is not an emergency service. If someone may be in danger, call 911.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Social Squares and the people who run it aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Square, or for what other people post or do. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to $100.
Changes
We may update these terms as the Square grows. We’ll change the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, let founding neighbors know. Continuing to use the Square means you accept the updated terms.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska.
